Mayor of Kalgoorlie-Boulder

Ron Yuryevich

If Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a rich and colourful past, it has an even more exciting future.

Hard work over a number of years by this council has made our city a family friendly city nestled in the wonderful Goldfields woodlands with its array of stunning eucalypts and plants. When people suggest Kalgoorlie-Boulder is in a desert I laugh and tell them: “So you haven’t been there. Come and be pleasantly surprised.”

We are a green city that is in line for national sustainability awards.

Whether you are single, a young married couple or facing retirement we have the lifestyle for you.

While I have no empirical evidence to support the following statement, I truly believe for its size Kalgoorlie-Boulder has produced more millionaires than anywhere in Australia and that is continuing. Gold is once again the darling of the stock exchange, new mines are opening and nickel and rare earth mines add to the mix

Business opportunities here are endless, mining is big business and many come here in their profession such as in the police or teaching, see an opportunity and end up staying and raising a family.

And as far as education goes we have everything; public and private, primary and secondary and our world-renown School of Mines and now the Goldfields Institute of Technology.

On top of that if your kids don’t want to go onto university then the opportunity for your son or daughter to get an apprenticeship or traineeship is very high.

Our sporting and leisure facilities for a population of 30,000 are something we are proud of and there is a vibrant and expanding arts community.

The one thing we don’t have is a beach and even there I see a positive; no sharks!

Gigi Hadid Urging Zayn Malik To Reunite With One Direction: ‘It’s For Your Health’

She's walked catwalks around the world and is accustomed to having all eyes on her.

But even supermodel Gigi Hadid must have felt uncomfortable on Friday, when she and beau Zayn Malik stepped out of their hotel in New York City and into a hysterical mob of screaming fans.

As cameras flashed and hands reached out to touch her slim frame, the 20-year-old beauty remained angelic and serene, working a sheer top that exposed her lacey white bra and abs of steel.

Gigi, who returned to New York on Thursday morning after an intense week shooting with Versace in Chicago, was en route to the Z100 radio station, where Zayn was set to perform tracks from his debut solo album Mind Of Mine, which he released just 24 hours earlier.

As the mob swarmed, the chivalrous Pillowtalk hitmaker wrapped his tattooed hands around his lady, guarding her from the crowd and guiding her into the security of their sedan.

“Zayn can’t get it together on his own, he is more comfortable in the group. He is great in the studio alone but performing for large crowds is too much for his anxiety. Gigi’s advice has been for Zayn to get back together with the guys, do some touring and once he feels better, venture off on his own career again,” our insider adds. Stream Zayn’s music, unlimited and ad-free, right here.

Zayn had no trouble when he played  in front of millions of fans for years as part of the boy band, but as a solo act, he’s struggled with appearing live. The singer’s troubles were incredibly evident when at the very last minute he pulled out of CapitalFM Summertime Ball in London June 11 due to scary anxiety issues.

After all the dissing Zayn did on his former band after going solo, he may have burned all of his bridges with the guys. “Lots of things have been said and done since he has left One Direction. First the guys need to approve such a major reversal of decision. Lots needs to happen before a One Direction reunion tour takes place but it is a possibility. The band needs to get back together first before they can welcome him back,” our source adds. What a sad reminder that the four guys still need to make 1D come alive again, because we miss them so much!

Zayn Malik

Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik, born 12 January 1993), who records mononymously as
Zayn (also stylised as ZAYN), is an English singer and songwriter. In 2010, Malik auditioned as a solo artist for the British reality television music competition The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Malik was brought back into the competition, along with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson, to form the boy band One Direction. During his time in the group, Malik and his bandmates released the albums Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), and Four (2014). In March 2015, Malik's representative announced the singer's departure from the band.

Malik signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records in 2015, with his debut studio album Mind of Mine released on 25 March 2016. The album and its lead single, "Pillowtalk", reached number one in a number of countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, with Malik becoming the first British male artist to debut at number one in both the UK and US with his debut single and debut album.

The album Mind of Mine was released on 25 March 2016. Primarily R&B and alternative R&B, the album blends elements from a number of genres, including pop, folk, soul (including British soul and neo-soul), dub, funk, electronic, reggae, Qawwali, ghazal, hip hop, classical, and soft rock. The album also channels different eras of music, including modern, retro, 1980s, and 1990s, while the moods of the album vary from slow ballads to thumping club jams. Despite the variations in the sounds and genres, Mind of Mine is structured in an "album-as-complete-work" form, maintaining a tightly knit cohesion throughout the record, with an almost seamless transition between and across songs, while maintaining a recognizable, mostly downbeat, "hazy" tone throughout. This gives the album a continuous flow, and gives the impression that it all came from one person's "mind." The album has received favourable reviews from music critics, with praise directed towards Malik's new musical direction, his vocals, and the album's music production.

Mind of Mine debuted at number one in a number of countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and United States, where he became the first British male solo artist to debut at number one with his first album. Zayn is also one of the few artists to have achieved number one on the US Billboard 200 both as part of a group and as a solo act, along with Justin Timberlake (NSYNC), Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) and Beyoncé (Destiny's Child).Zayn is also the first UK male artist to debut at number one in both the UK and US, and the third artist to debut at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 with debut entries on each chart (along with Lauryn Hill and Clay Aiken). Zayn also topped the Billboard Artist 100 chart, replacing Justin Bieber at the summit, and surpassing One Direction's number-two peak on the chart. On 24 March 2016, Malik made his second solo appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On 25 March 2016, he performed on the Honda Stage at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City. Zayn performed at the 3rd iHeartRadio Music Awards on 3 April 2016.

Malik dated fellow X Factor contestant Geneva Lane, former member of Belle Amie, in 2010.He began dating Perrie Edwards of Little Mix in early 2012; they got engaged in 2013. On 4 August 2015, Malik's representative confirmed that the couple had ended their engagement. Since November 2015, he has been seen on dates with American model Gigi Hadid, and he confirmed their relationship in March 2016.

Malik is Muslim. He speaks English and Urdu, and can read Arabic. He has received abuse in the form of anti-Muslim slurs, which led to him deleting his Twitter account in 2012. During the 2014 Israel-Gaza Conflict, Malik posted the message "#FreePalestine" on Twitter, resulting in him receiving angry responses and death threats. He has since avoided publicly expressing political views. He said that, after the release of his debut album, he plans to pursue an academic degree in English or literature (which he originally intended before his music career), while at the same time writing his next album.

He is an official ambassador of the British Asian Trust charity group, contributing to improving the lives of disadvantaged people living in South Asia. With his former group One Direction, he contributed to African fundraising events with Comic Relief. In March 2016, he brought a box at Bradford City A.F.C. for underprivileged children to watch football, named after his maternal grandfather Walter Brannan. As of April 2015, shortly after he left One Direction, Malik's net worth was £25 million ($41 million). As of April 2016, his net worth is £30 million ($49 million).

David Warner

David Andrew Warner (born 27 October 1986) is an Australian cricketer and the vice
captain of the team in all 3 formats of the game. An explosive left-handed opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without experience in first-class cricket. He currently plays for New South Wales, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Sydney Thunder. He became vice-captain of Australia across Test & ODI formats of the game, in August 2015.

On 7 November 2015, Warner achieved one of the rarest feat of becoming only the third batsmen in history of Test cricket, after Sunil Gavaskar & Ricky Ponting, to score centuries in both innings of a Test match thrice. In the very next Test match against New Zealand, he scored his maiden Test double century at The WACA, Perth, his fourth consecutive century against New Zealand. In that same match, Warner also became the second opener in Test cricket history, after India's Sunil Gavaskar, to score three consecutive Test hundreds twice in his career, and the only Australian since Adam Gilchrist to score three consecutive hundreds (a feat Warner had done twice in just 13 months), while completing his 4,000 Test career runs as the 4th fastest Aussie batsman, the top three being the legendary Don Bradman, Matthew Hayden & Neil Harvey respectively.

Warner also became the first batsman to ever score three centuries at The WACA, with his top 2 scores in Tests both achieved in the same stadium. His top score of 253 was also the second-highest individual score to be surpassed by an opposition batsman in the same Test match, which was surpassed during Ross Taylor's knock of 290. Currently, he is ranked fifth in the list of top 10 Test batsmen in the world, according to the official ICC Player Rankings, published in December 2015. He is the first Australian and sixth overall to reach 1,500 T20I runs.

David Andrew Warner was born at Paddington, a suburb in eastern Sydney, New South Wales. At the age of 13 he was asked by his coach to switch to right-handed batting because he kept hitting the ball in the air. However one season later his mother, Sheila Warner (née Orange), encouraged him to return to batting left-handed and he broke the U/16's run scoring record for the Sydney Coastal Cricket Club. He then made his first grade debut for the Eastern Suburbs club at the age of 15 and later toured Sri Lanka with the Australian under-19s and earned a rookie contract with the state team. He has been seen practising hitting right-handed in 2016, which he had hit at least one switch-hit in all forms of the game. Warner attended Matraville Public School and Randwick Boys High School.

Former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe has called for a yellow-card and red-card system to be introduced to international cricket to curb Warner's "thuggish" on-field behaviour, stating that Warner was "the most juvenile cricketer I have seen on a cricket field".

On 12 June 2013, Warner was dropped for Australia's second match in 2013 ICC Champions Trophy match against New Zealand following an attack on an England cricketer. It later emerged that this player was Joe Root. The event happened hours after Saturday's loss to England at Edgbaston earlier that day. According to the sports journalist Pat Murphy, the incident took place at 2am at the Walkabout bar in the centre of Birmingham, UK. On 13 June 2013, the Australian Cricket Team announced that Warner was to be fined £7,000 (AU $11,500) and would not play for his country until the first Ashes' test on 10 July 2013. Warner subsequently missed the rest of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and the tour matches against Somerset and Worcestershire.

Warner attracted further controversy soon after. On 27 July 2013, whilst playing for Australia A against South Africa A in Pretoria he was involved in an on-field altercation with South Africa A wicket-keeper Thami Tsolekile. This was deemed serious enough for the umpires to step in twice, however no formal complaints were made and Warner tweeted later in the day describing it as "friendly banter". Despite this, writers called into question his return to the Australia squad for the third Ashes test against England, which seemed likely after scoring 193 in the first innings of this match. He was eventually forgiven and was recalled but caused huge hilarity when he 'hooked another one to Root' as he put it himself, as he was caught on the boundary by Root.

Nate Myles

Nate Myles (born 24 June 1985) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer
who currently plays for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the National Rugby League. A Queensland State of Origin and Australia national representative forward, he previously played for the Bulldogs, Roosters and Gold Coast Titans.

Myles was a Bulldogs junior and a housemate of fellow future NRL stars Sonny Bill Williams and Johnathan Thurston. As 2004 NRL premiers, the Bulldogs faced Super League IX champions, the Leeds Rhinos in the 2005 World Club Challenge. Myles played from the interchange bench in the Bulldogs' 32-39 loss.In 2006 he was picked to represent Queensland in the State of Origin competition. In 2006, Myles was charged with drink driving following a Melbourne Cup luncheon. Sydney Roosters imposed a fine of $10,000, 20 hours of community charity work and forced him to undergo alcohol counselling

Myles was selected to play in all three matches of the 2012 State of Origin series, being awarded the Wally Lewis Medal as man of the series, which was won by Queensland for the seventh consecutive year. At the 2012 Dally M Awards Myles was named the NRL's second-row forward of the year.He was also named the 2012 Gold Coast Titans season's best player and awarded the club's annual Paul Broughton Medal.

He was named a Titans co-captain for 2013 alongside Greg Bird. Myles was selected for Australia in the 2013 ANZAC Test and played from the interchange bench. In what was the first test match ever played in Canberra, New Zealand were defeated. Myles played all three games of the 2013 State of Origin series in which Queensland extended their record for consecutive series victories to eight.

Laurie Daley

Laurie Daley AM (born 20 October 1969 in Junee, New South Wales) is a professional
Australian rugby league football coach currently in charge of the New South Wales State of Origin team. Daley is also a former player, having represented Australia on 26 occasions and has since been named as one of the nation's finest of the 20th century. Daley played primarily as a Centre and then Five-eighth for the Canberra Raiders during their most successful period in the 1990s.

Spotted playing first grade for the Junee Diesels in 1986 at the age of sixteen,[citation needed] and after being signed by the Raiders, he developed as a centre and was playing first grade by 1987, including being a non-playing reserve for the Raiders in their 18-8 Grand Final loss to Manly-Warringah at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Daley was playing representative rugby league before his 19th birthday in 1988 when he was selected to represent NSW Country in the annual City vs Country Origin game. He was the second highest try-scorer in the 1989 NSWRL season with sixteen tries, only one less than team mate Gary Belcher. He tasted premiership success with the Raiders 1989 in an extra-time game which saw Canberra defeat the Balmain Tigers 19-14, and in the ensuing celebrations dropped the Winfield Cup from a moving car. In the post season he travelled with the Raiders to England for the 1989 World Club Challenge, playing at centre in Canberra's 18-30 loss to Widnes at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. Daley played his first games for New South Wales in the 1989 State of Origin series.

From 2008-2012 he was the coach of the NSW Country Origin team.

In September 2007, Daley left his commentary position with Fox Sports and signed a contract with the Nine Network to co-present much of their rugby league coverage, from appearing on the weekly rugby league topic show The Footy Show, to commentating on Nine's weekend league coverage.

In 2010, after New South Wales suffered their fifth consecutive series defeat and their first Origin whitewash (a series lost 0–3) since 2000, he was sacked as the state's team selector.

However, on 21 August 2012 Daley was appointed the NSW State of Origin coach from 2013, taking over from former Canberra team mate Ricky Stuart who, under NSW policy of their Origin coach not being a current NRL club coach, was ruled out after agreeing to coach the Parramatta Eels in 2013. Daley got the job in preference to other candidates including Trent Barrett, Brad Fittler and Daniel Anderson. Daley lead the Blues to their first series win in 2014, finally breaking the QLD dynasty and delivering the Blues their first series win since 2005.

In 2014, Daley became only the second man after Wayne Pearce to play, captain and coach a Blues side to a series win over Queensland.
