Eight injured as boat explodes on Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn

Eight people have suffered injuries, including four in a critical condition, after a boat exploded on the Hawkesbury River in Sydney's north on Sunday afternoon.

The vessel erupted in flames at a marina off Dangar Road at Brooklyn just after 5pm.

NSW Ambulance said 12 crews were dispatched to the scene along with a specialist medical team, a Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter and a Westpac Ambulance Rescue Helicopter.

Four patients were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition, two to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition, and two didn't require transportation.

Woman dead, three in hospital after multi-car crash near Wollongong


A woman has been killed and three children air-lifted to hospital after a multi-car crash near Wollongong on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the M1 Princes Motorway near Masters Road at Figtree about 7.15pm after reports a sedan had struck a tree, trapping its four occupants.

The blue Holden Statesman had careered off the southbound lanes of the highway after it was involved in a collision with another car.

One dead, three injured in horror Princes Highway crash

A woman is dead, another passenger is fighting for life and two children are in a critical condition after a crash on the Princes Highway outside of Wollongong.

A police spokesman said the driver of one car died at the scene and three others were injured when two vehicles collided southbound at Figtree about 7.15pm on Friday.

An off-duty paramedic was first on the scene after driving past the crash, 9News has learned.

Two SUVs breached US-Mexico border in California – then crashed, burned in separate accidents: reports


Two SUVs involved in separate accidents in California on Tuesday entered the U.S. from Mexico through a 10-foot gap in a border barrier, federal authorities said Wednesday, according to a report.

One of the SUVs, said to have 25 illegal immigrants crammed inside, soon became involved in a deadly crash at State Highway 115 and Norrish Road in Holtville that killed 12 of the vehicle’s occupants at the scene and a 13th a short time later, the Los Angeles Times reported.

NTSB, CHP to meet amid human smuggling investigation in mass casualty crash in Imperial County

Holtville, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are investigating whether human smuggling was involved when an SUV packed with 25 people slammed into a tractor-trailer in a remote Imperial County desert on Tuesday, killing the driver and 12 passengers near the Mexican border.

The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to meet Wednesday with the California Highway Patrol amid growing evidence that the group was being smuggled into the country.

'Mass-casualty' California crash on Mexico border: NTSB, highway investigators to peel through wreckage

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to arrive in Southern California on Wednesday to probe the previous day's fatal crash involving an SUV that was said to be carrying 25 people near the U.S.-Mexico border, according to officials. Thirteen people died in the crash.

The NTSB and the California Highway Patrol will begin their investigation into the Tuesday morning crash near Holtville, California. At least three NTSB agents are expected to scour the scene, with the department’s investigator-in-charge expected to arrive first, the agency said. It was not immediately clear what time they were expected to be on scene.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Tuesday that agents are conducting a human smuggling investigation and were at the scene of a devastating crash in California that left at least 13 people dead, according to the agency. 

The investigation was announced after human smugglers and 25 illegal immigrants jammed into a single SUV, which collided with a big rig and left bodies scattered across a roadway near the U.S. Mexico border on Tuesday, a Border Patrol source told Fox News.

A suspect was arrested Tuesday night following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a deadly crash in Los Angeles.

The suspect was wanted for alleged assault with a deadly weapon against a sheriff's deputy, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department's West Hollywood Division said, according to KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. 

The suspect crashed their car into another driver at Third and Fairfax near the historic Original Farmers Market and the famed Grove shopping center.

Holtville, Calif. — At least 13 people died after an SUV packed with dozens of passengers collided with a semitruck near the U.S.-Mexico border Tuesday, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

California Highway Patrol Division Chief Omar Watson said the crash involved a big rig hauling two trailers and a Ford Expedition carrying 25 people. The big rig smashed into the side of the SUV before 6:15 a.m. PST at the intersection of State Route 115 and Norrish Road near Holtville, about 50 miles west of Arizona and 10 miles north of the border.

At least 15 people dead after SUV, semitruck collide in Southern California, hospital says

At least 15 people died after an SUV packed with dozens of passengers collided with a semitruck near the U.S.-Mexico border in California on Tuesday, according to officials with El Centro Regional Medical Center.

"We believe there was 27 passengers in this SUV that struck a semitruck full of gravel," emergency room managing director Judy Cruz said in a Facebook Live video.

15 killed in crash involving SUV and semitruck in Imperial County, California

An SUV packed with people and a semitruck hauling trailers of gravel slammed into each other in Imperial County, California, on Tuesday morning, leaving 15 dead and others hospitalized, officials said.

Overhead video of the scene shows the brutal aftermath of the crash, with the jack-knifed semitruck smashed into the left side of the SUV. Both vehicles came to a rest off the side of the road.

Tiger Woods won't face charges after sheriff says car crash was an accident

Los Angeles (CNN)The rollover car crash that seriously injured Tiger Woods outside Los Angeles on Tuesday was an accident and investigators won't pursue any charges against the golf great, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Wednesday.

"We don't contemplate any charges whatsoever in this crash," Villanueva said in a Facebook Live chat. "This remains an accident. An accident is not a crime. They do happen, unfortunately."

As of overnight Wednesday, Woods was "awake, responsive, and recovering" in the hospital from major surgery, according to a statement on his Twitter account.

The 45-year-old golf legend was driving shortly after 7 a.m. PT Tuesday in Rancho Palos Verdes when his SUV crossed a median and veered across two lanes of road before hitting a curb, hitting a tree and landing on its side in the brush, Villanueva said Tuesday.

Tiger Woods is recovering from major surgery after a high-speed car crash


Los Angeles (CNN)Tiger Woods was "awake, responsive, and recovering" in the hospital from major surgery, according to a statement on his Twitter account on Tuesday, after a high-speed rollover car crash near Los Angeles.

The 45-year-old golf legend was driving shortly after 7 a.m. PT Tuesday in Rancho Palos Verdes when his SUV crossed a median and veered across two lanes of road before hitting a curb, hitting a tree and landing on its side in the brush, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

Woods remained conscious and calm but sustained serious leg injuries.

He underwent a lengthy emergency surgery on his lower right leg and ankle at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the statement said. The leg fractures were "comminuted," meaning the bone was broken into more than two parts, and "open," meaning the broken bone was exposed to open air, creating risk of an infection, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anish Mahajan said in the statement.
