Cancer survivor wins appeal to have assistance dog funding included in NDIS plan after three-year battle

The agency that runs the National Disability Insurance Scheme has been directed to fund the training of an assistance dog for a 63-year-old cancer survivor living with a rare autoimmune disorder, three years after she initially applied for it.

Earlier this month, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal ruled the National Disability Insurance Agency should include the $34,000 cost associated with finding and training an assistance dog in the statement of supports of the woman’s NDIS plan.

The woman lives with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome. She has also experienced various other health conditions including osteoporosis, post-traumatic stress disorder and thyroid cancer, which had been treated with chemotherapy.

The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) and the ET Foundation have announced that they are rescheduling the dates for the Twelfth International Aluminum Extrusion Technology Seminar, previously postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The ET Seminar, now named ET 2022, will be held May 3 – 5, 2022, at the same hotel, the Hilton Orlando, in Orlando Florida. The hotel is located on Destination Parkway, minutes from I-Drive in the heart of Orlando's dining and entertainment district.

SMS group commissions new aluminium cold rolling mill at BaoWu Aluminium Technology in good time

SMS group supplied a scold rolling mill for aluminium strips to the Chinese aluminium supplier BaoWu Aluminium Technology Ltd., which belongs to the BaoWu Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., the largest steel producer in China.

The cold rolling mill was successfully put into operation by rolling the first coil at the company's location in Sanmenxia in the Chinese province of Henan. Despite the Corona pandemic, this milestone was reached faster than expected.

The six-high cold rolling mill can process aluminium strips with a maximum width of 2,350 millimeters. The smallest final thickness of the finished strips is 0.15 millimeters. The plant was designed for an annual capacity of about 120,000 tons.

Boris Johnson's vaccine strategy gets another boost, while Europe confronts fresh problems

London (CNN)Boris Johnson didn't have a very good start to the pandemic. The United Kingdom still has one of the world's worst coronavirus mortality rates, and is near the top of the table in total infections and deaths -- truly the Covid capital of Europe.

Critics have blamed this on several errors made early on, from going into lockdown too late and making a mess of testing to poor government communications.

However, of late, Johnson's fortunes appear to have turned. On Monday, the Prime Minister was able to reveal a roadmap that would take England out of lockdown before the end of June.

Johnson would not have been able to deliver this good news had the UK's vaccine rollout not gone so remarkably well to date. As things stand, the UK has administered more than 18.5 million doses, or 27 per 100 people. Compare this to other European giants like France and Germany, who have each managed only six per 100, and a very favorable narrative emerges for Johnson.

South Korean boy band BTS’ youngest member Jeon Jungkook treated the Army with his latest hair makeover.
