ONE person was killed and five others injured - two of them seriously - in a two car accident on Waterfall Way this morning.
About 8 o'clock, police and other emergency services responded to reports of the crash, approximately 40km east of Armidale.
The rear-seat passenger of one of the vehicles died at the scene.
NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated five people for various injuries.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter airlifted two patients in a serious condition to Tamworth Base Hospital: a 20-year-old woman with a head injury and a 17-year-old boy with back and chest injuries.
Three others - all said to be in a stable condition - have been taken by ambulance to Armidale Hospital: a 17-year-old girl with back pain, a 54-year-old woman with an arm injury and a 56-year-old man with back pain.
The accident has closed Waterfall Way in both directions south of Ebor.
Light vehicles can use the Guyra Rd as an alternative.

Waterfall Way is closed in both directions as a result of the collision and diversions are in place.
Police are still at the scene and they expect the road to remain closed for a number of hours.
